Marriages Contracted by Overseas Forces

Quebec Chronicle

Dated:

London, April 10 (Canadian Press dispatch from Reuter’s Ltd.)

In the House of Lords the Lord-Chancellor introduced a bill which passed on its first reading providing that where marriages were contracted in the United Kingdom during the war by members of the overseas forces, a competent court in the district where the marriage occurred is empowered to entertain matrimonial proceedings by either party to the marriage.

The bill also applies to the self-governing Dominions, also to many of His Majesty’s Dominions and protectorates.
