Dear Folks at Home:-
Mother’s welcome letter of April 8th received the other day being the first mail I have received direct from Canada. I haven’t received any letters written in March at all so they must surely be held up at Bramshott.
We are having a nice easy time these days and I only hope it keeps up for a while.
Summer has arrived in earnest now and the leaves are all out and the blossoms on the trees. It is always cool at nights though, however hot it may be in the day time.
Frankie Allen must have had quite a time getting married. I’ll bet poor I’ll bet poor Ellen felt pretty cheap when she balked on the word “obey”.
By the way I hear that the Government has cancelled the exemptions of all men between the ages of 20 – 24. If that is true I am afraid that many of the poor farmer lads might have to join the army. I hope it catches Eric Hutchinson. Perhaps he wil learn that there are some things more important than his precious bees.
I suppose the cars will be running in full swing by this time and that father will be busy again.
Well I think I will close for now as news is scarce.
Love to all
John
