Dear Folks at Home:-
No Canadian mail has arrived lately so I haven’t heard from home for more than two weeks.
Yesterday we had a long route march so as a result I am feeling rather tired today. When we move from one place to another we have to carry all our belongings on our back generally and I don’t think that there are many of us who carry much surplus kit for that reason.
I was at a concert party the other night given by the Divisional Concert Party and it was certainly great. The female parts were played by men of course and they were powdered up as much as any girls. Bishop Fallon of Toronto was there as a visitor. It did seem rather a funny performance for a Bishop to attend but in the speech he made, he said that he enjoyed it immensely so I guess that Bishops aren’t much different from anyone else.
The weather is certainly great these days and some of us have even been sleeping outside although it is never very warm at night over here.
I am going to ask you to send me $2.00 from my assigned pay each month. You know that part of our pay is held back in France and we just get about 8.50 a month and if we have a little extra cash we can often find it handy. Send it in a $2.00 bill or in cash as P.O. orders etc. are very hard to get cashed over here.
Must close now hoping you are all well as we are.
Lovingly
John
